Previously I spoke about the importance of antioxidants and detailed our top antioxidant products like Antioxidant Support and Mitochondrial complex. Many times, when I bring up antioxidants I’m asked, do you carry a “greens” product.” The answer is, “Yes, we do.” The National Cancer Institute recommends 5 servings of fruits and veggies/day. Many individuals don’t come near getting this amount. How many servings are you getting? Let me show you one way to make this easy! Try our Super Greens. Do you know about the antioxidants in Super Greens?
Antioxidant Values
Super Greens is known for having a high ORAC value. Let me explain. Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) is a unit value assigned by researchers to measure the antioxidant value of a given food. Think of it as a way to quantify the total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of foods.
How is this even tested? Food is placed in a test tube, along with certain molecules that generate free radical activity and certain other molecules that are vulnerable to oxidation. After a while, researches can measure how well the sample protected the vulnerable molecules from oxidation by the free radicals. The less free radical damage there is, the higher the antioxidant capacity of the test substance. Foods with a high ORAC value are beneficial to the body by increasing plasma antioxidant levels.
Fruits and vegetables have a unique combination of antioxidants that have proven better than supplementation with individual antioxidant vitamins. Some of the highest ORAC foods are ground herbs like: cloves, cinnamon, oregano and turmeric, sage, ginger, and thyme. You have also heard that cacao is high, that is also correct. Fruits with high ORAC values include: acai, maqui, gogi, and elderberries to name a few.
Be assured that our product contains only totally organically grown fruits, vegetables, and grasses. What do I mean by grasses? While most green drinks use powdered grasses, ours has been formulated with a 33:1 grass juice extract, giving a significant boost to grass values and the resulting pH balancing benefit to the body.
Super Greens has an excellent pH and fiber, but obviously also contains the high ORAC value. It can help individuals who lack those 5 servings of fruit and veggies overcome this challenge.
