Today, I want to continue addressing fatigue. This is part 3 of a 3-part blog on ideas to help you feel more vibrant with the energy to do what you enjoy most in life!
In part 1, we discussed how important getting adequate sleep and nutrition truly are.
In part 2, we discussed how important optimizing hormones truly is.
Today, I want to talk briefly about nutritional deficiencies, as well as toxins and infections that can influence your fatigue.
Nutritional Deficiencies:
In my book, Your Longevity Blueprint, in Chapter 4, I discuss how important nutrients are. All of our cells require nutrients to produce energy.
Here’s one analogy. Think of a car or train. In order for them to run they need fuel like gas or coal. Our bodies need a fuel source as well, The fuel comes as various nutrients. We need macro and micronutrients.
The essential macronutrients for life include carbohydrates, proteins (amino acids), and lipids (fats), as well as fiber.
Our needed micronutrients include vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and water. Micronutrients specifically fuel our mitochondria, which are the powerhouses of our cells that literally provide our bodies with energy.
These are often depleted by the medications we take, the stress we are under, and even by foods like caffeine.
- Vitamin D
- B Vitamins (B6, B9, B12)
- Secret supplements: antioxidants help to protect you from the damage of radiation from electromagnetic chaos we are all exposed to and to help boost immune support and also help your body produce more energy.
My favorite product for energy is our Mitochondrial Complex.
(Watch for my upcoming video on that product specifically.)
What about toxins? They can make you tired too. How do feel after you eat clean, organic, nonprocessed foods? I feel great. What happens is you go out to eat, let’s say for a birthday celebration. Many times you feel lousy that day and the next.
If you eat foods laden with herbicides/pesticides, GMOs, and even heavy metals, this contributes to your burden of toxins, which your body has to work hard to get rid of. When it’s working to detox it uses up nutrients that could otherwise be spent on energy production.
Additionally, chronic infections like yeast overgrowth, viruses, and biotoxin illnesses can also make you feel very tired.
- Yeast can hang out in dark moist cavities, like the sinuses and vaginal vault, causing infections there but systemic yeast can also make patients feel very tired. This is often caused by chronic use of antibiotics, which wipe out your good bacteria allowing opportunistic yeast to flourish.
- Viruses like the herpes family of viruses, including mono can also make you feel very tired.
- Biotoxin illnesses, like Lyme or mold, can thirdly impact your energy.
Think about it.
When your body is working on fighting infections, it uses up nutrients that could otherwise be spent on energy production as well.
So…in summary to part 3, find a functional medicine provider who can help you explore and address what you find.
They can test for nutritional deficiencies and for chronic infections.
Learn more about nutrients, toxins, and infections in Chapters 4, 5, and 8 of my book Your Longevity Blueprint.
Always consult with your health care provider and share any supplements you are taking.
