My Story
First, I want to tell you a little about me and why my old band-aid approach didn’t work. I run a private practice in Iowa, where I help people regain control over their own health. One day, I found myself struggling to even breathe. My heart-rate was out of control. It turned out that in helping others, I had overlooked myself.
That realization led me down my own health journey. I had become acquainted with short-term solutions in medicine during my own struggles with infertility. Simply taking medication in an attempt to solve problems left me frustrated and no closer to healing than before. There had to be a better way.
Through my own struggles and working with thousands of patients, I developed a unique way of viewing how the human body is structured. To build and maintain my health, I developed a longevity blueprint. This was a solution for me, and now I’m sharing it with you.
Throughout this podcast series, I will be sharing the most progressive functional medicine options for the different systems in your body. I’ll outline plans of action for maintaining your health and improving your longevity to reduce your risk of chronic disease.

Welcome to the longevity blueprint podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Stephanie gray. My number one goal with the show is to help you discover your personalized plan to build your dream health and live a longer, happier, truly healthier life.
I want to share with you a bit of my story why the band aid approach to my health didn't work.
I was disoriented. I tried using my phone to call my husband but I couldn't get my finger to hit the right button. I leaned back in my chair, put my hand on my chest and realize that my heart rate was through the roof. I looked up at what seemed like my office doorway but felt like a football field away and I knew in that moment that something wasn't right. I was short of breath and dizzy, but I got the strength to walk through my door and down the hallway of my clinic.
I looked as though I was going to fall over. She grabbed my husband who I was trying to get ahold of you see, he's my office manager and I was at work. I run a private practice in Iowa and I help people with issues like this all the time, but now I was the one that needed help. I needed help not only with my heart rate, but I Amongst all of this while most of my friends were on to kid two or three, my room was empty, and the stress of every morning tracking my cycles basal body temperatures, waking up knowing I wasn't pregnant was dragging me down. Every doctor I ever went to recommended pills adoption or to come to the conclusion that I may never have children. And as a practitioner, guiding others towards healing few knew my internal struggle. I felt like my world was falling apart and quickly so what did I do?
Well, my fast heart rate landed me at the emergency room and eventually at Mayo Clinic, and I was offered medication to control my heart rate, but I knew that taking the medication wouldn't tell me why this was happening to me that this would only be a bandaid, but this wasn't my first rodeo. For infertility. I was recommended fertility drugs to the drugs really solved the problems. I knew there had to be more to my story.
Maybe you can relate. Are you taking a trail mix of pills yourself? Maybe it's not for fast heart rate or infertility. But maybe you've been prescribed medications for cholesterol mood, focus, reflux, regulating your cycles, blood pressure, psoriasis, bone density or even for weight loss.
Have you ever thought what if there was another way What if there was a better way? What if there was a drug free way? How many of you can relate to that? Well through my struggles and working with thousands of patients like myself at the integrative health and hormone clinic in Iowa over the past 10 years, I've developed a unique way of viewing how the human body is structured. I created a longevity blueprint to build and maintain my health. This was a solution for me, and now I'm sharing it with others.
I want to introduce you to my blueprint concept here. Without a house there are several key components. There's the foundation, the framework, the electrical work, he's unlocked for doorways, the laundry room heating and cooling, plumbing and the roof. The same is true for your body. We have several very important organ systems that we need to be maintaining. We spend a lot of time and money maintaining our homes, changing filters, keeping hair out of the drains mowing the lawn, but do we spend as much time on our bodies.
Within my blueprint, I've created this little graphic comparing each room in the home to an organ system in the body, your organs and the systems of your body work together to build your longevity. It's a lot like building a home. You need a blueprint to ensure every system of your body is addressed to live a long and healthy life. Each chapter in life Book outlines the most progressive functional medicine testing options currently available to address that organ system aka room in the house. The book ultimately outlines a plan of action for you to build and maintain your health and improve your longevity, reducing your risk of chronic disease. And this is the content I'm going to be sharing throughout the podcast. If we think about the top leading causes of death, heart disease is number one, then we have cancer, diabetes, stroke, Alzheimer's, and even autoimmune diseases.
Do you want to be in these statistics? Maybe you already are. If you are, is your condition stable or worsening? Did you ever figure out why you develop your condition or were you put on medication and that was the end of it? You still have unanswered questions. Like me many patients dissatisfied with lack of answers from conventional medicine seek help through other providers offering integrative chiropractic or even functional medicine care. I like to think of conventional medicine as the fire department. The fire department extinguishes fires that erupt in a person's health using only an axe and a hose. Those are drugs and surgery used in conventional medicine.
Although conventional medicine is an important part of healthcare, and I'm thankful we have an amazing Fire Department patient Typically aren't taught how to find and fix the faulty circuitry that started the fire in the first place. The Carpenter approach, on the other hand, helps patients repair and rebuild the body similar to how a carpenter rebuilds a home after a fire. So who is the carpenter or the contractor? Well, providers like myself at the integrative health and hormone clinic who practice functional medicine are one of the most common questions I get is Dr. Greg, can you help me rebuild my health? And the answer is yes, I sit down with patients face to face every day and walk them through the longevity blueprint. Every day that you struggle with nasty symptoms, weight gain, hot flashes, brain fog, or sleep irritable bowel syndrome, or maybe it's an autoimmune disease or cancer.
That's time away from your family and time away from your precious life. picture day when you wake up and feel younger with vibrant energy, mental clarity at an optimal weight, have a lovely mood and everyone around you wants to know what you've done to turn your health around. picture day when a family member or best friend says to you You're like the Energizer Bunny You look amazing. What are you doing? extra day one health isn't holding you back from the life you want to live. I can get you there. The best is yet to come. Whether you or 33 or 93?
